The conference Breastfeeding and Communication: Operators, communities and psycho-social research proposes to address, in a scientific and interdisciplinary manner, the topic of the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding. The event aims to create a meeting point for social psychology researchers, paediatricians, midwives and breastfeeding consultants to share empirical findings, ideas, knowledge and best practices. In particular, the results and implications of the studies conducted within the interdisciplinary FAR 2022 project entitled ‘Understanding and promoting breastfeeding: A two-step intervention to foster expectant mothers’ breastfeeding intentions and behaviour’ (Funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU – CUP: E95F2100343000). These studies highlight the contribution of social psychology to the understanding and promotion of this important primary prevention practice, in line with the WHO and Unicef targets for 2030.
